About

Joy with chubby baby
Hi! I'm Joy

In my past life I was an elementary music teacher and I couldn't have picked a more perfect occupation for my personality. I LOVED knowing every kid in the school, running assemblies, hanging out in the work room, dressing up like a crazy person for holidays, making kids go back to the drinking fountain and walk. Those were fun times.

Fast forward a few years and I'm a stay at home mom with 5 kids. Yes, five.

F.I.V.E.

I love it and wouldn't change it for anything, but it is Crazy Time. Just doing the laundry is practically a full time job.

This blog is an attempt at recording my ideas. Because, darn it, in 15 years when my kids' memories have become extremely selective, I want to show them that yes, we actually DID do fun things and life wasn't all walking 5 miles uphill both ways in the snow to school. Barefoot.

I love creating, but not in the scrapbooky-pinteresty way. I want it to be practical, funny if at all possible, and get right to the point because I do not have time for a bunch of froo froo. Although I have been known to stay up way too late wrapping boxes with butcher paper and hot gluing plastic cups on to make giant Legos for birthday decorations. So, there's that.

In doing this blog I really, truly, from the bottom of my heart do NOT wish to add to anyone's anxiety or frustration or feelings of anything negative. We all have things we love and things we struggle with. I happen to always have a very messy van, a pile of papers to be filed, and of course the before-stated mountain of laundry to do. Those are not things I love. And that's ok. It doesn't mean anything except I don't love it. Just because others are good at stuff and I'm not doesn't mean I stink.

When you see a cute shot of some random project, just know that there's probably a sink full of dirty dishes right behind. That's life. And I'm ok with that.

So welcome to my corner of chaos. I hope you can use some of these ideas to create fun memories of your own!
